The ungodly are not so: but are like the
chaff which the wind driveth away.

The ungodly are not so:
In the first three verses of this psalm,  the author
gives us a description of a godly man.   The first clause
in verse four implies a contrast between
the Godly man and  the ungodly man.
But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
We will now get into the ungodly man's characteristics
and fate.   First , that author says, he is like chaff.   If you
have not grown up on a farm or have been around
agriculture very much, the word chaff may be new to you.
Chaff is the husk that comes off of the grain when it is
harvested.  It is not useful for anything.  The author
paints a picture of the chaff being controlled by the wind.
The unbeliever is controlled by the things of this world.
He is always searching for something to make him  more
content but is never satisfied.   What he does has no
eternal value.  It is done either to impress people or for
his own entertainment.   Keeping up with the latest fads
and fashions of life are examples of chaff being driven
away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the
judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of
the righteous.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the
judgement.
As seen here, the author refers to a judgement.
We know form other scriptures that this cannot be the
Great White Throne of Judgement since that is where all
of the people who have not accepted Christ will
appear before their Maker.  The judgement could mean
The Judgement Seat of Christ.    Another  possible meaning
could be that the works of the ungodly will crumble,
instead  of stand, before the lord.  In Matthew, there is the
parable of the house built on the rock compared to the
house built on sand.   The ungodly are like that house that
is built on sand.
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
When a person is not living for the lord,  He feels
uncomfortable in the presence of other Christians.
This un comfort could be the Holy Spirit  inviting
the sinner to accept Christ.  The sinner can accept
or reject this invitation.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the
righteous: but the way of the ungodly
shall perish.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous.

The lord knows what the righteous man is doing.    This
does not mean that he is totally unaware of the deeds of
the sinners.  We know from other scriptures that God knows
everything.   What the verb know seems to imply here is
that God has a vested interest in the ways of the
righteous.   He is able to guide the righteous in his plans
through life.  Quite often these are good plans here on
earth and they are always good plans in the life to come.
We can not even imagine what Heaven is going to be like.
The largest estate here on earth will be only a shack
compared to the poorest house in Heaven.  I hope
everybody that reads these words will go to heaven some
day.

But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

If a person lives there own life,  it is doomed to failure.
The Non-christian may be living well in this but sooner or
later he will suffer.   The suffering could occur in this life
because the sinner does not have the assurance that
God is watching out for him and protecting him.  This may
not be until the eternal life.  The ungodly person will have
eternal life but it will sure not  be in Heaven. It will be in a
place called Hell,  Where  eternal fires will burn for ever
and ever.  This is how the  the ungodly will perish eternally.

You may be wondering.  How do I become a
righteous man?.
